The Louisville Nature Center Welcomes You
A truly unique community resource, the Louisville Nature Center offers wonderful opportunities for nature study and recreation--right in the heart of the city!

Among our unique features are: a native wildflower garden and pond, butterfly gardens, hiking trails through the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, a one-of-a-kind bird blind, wildlife exhibits, Beargrass Creek watershed exhibit, a meeting room, and our library--a great place to do research and spend some time indoors when the weather is too hot, cold, or rainy to study nature outside.

Bring a lunch and relax at our picnic tables or under the covered gazebo.

Click on the "Upcoming Events" button to find out how to get back on track with your healthly living in 2009!

LNC Donor Drive is still going on. You can help us reach our goal of $7,000 by making a contribution today. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, or stock. No amount is too small. Many people enjoy the hiking, nature observation and bird blind every day. Your donations help us maintain this FREE recreational resource in a location that is centrally located for the benefit of the entire community. Please consider adding LNC to your gift list.

The Nature Center's meeting room can be rented as a unique meeting place for groups who want a peaceful, natural setting! Perfect for reunions, retreats, or company gatherings. (Click on the "Group Events" button for more information.)

The Master Gardeners are available here most Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to answer your questions regarding rain gardens.
They also plan to be on hand at various events this year to answer your questions and make suggestions on your home installation of rain gardens. (See below for information on purchasing rain barrels from LNC.)

RAIN BARRELS ARE AVAILABLE AT LOUISVILLE NATURE CENTER
Rain barrels collect, store, and divert rooftop runoff during a rain event. They are good for the environment and help save money on your water bill. Through a generous donation from MSD, the Louisville Nature Center has rain barrels available for $70 each, or $65 each for two or more. The barrels come already assembled with a spigot and overflow tube. The assembly work is done for you by Youth Build, a non-profit community youth group. Best of all, you can pick up your barrel right here at LNC. Call us at 458-1328 for more information.

One hundred percent of the rain barrel proceeds go toward helping LNC continue its mission.
